The artist

EARLY LIFE
Raised in Cupira, a small town in the interior of Pernambuco, Brazil, Elielce Soares demonstrated a natural affinity with the arts from an early age. She grew up surrounded by the multifaceted talent of her father, Romeu Soares. He not only was a wood carver and leathersmith, but was also a composer and singer, profoundly influencing Elielce's artistic sensibility and the development of her manual skills.
Over the years, she has experimented with various manual arts, such as embroidery, crochet, sewing, paper mache, jewelry, among others. At the age of 15, she moved to Petrolina, in the backlands of the state of Pernambuco, where she began a new phase of her life. She studied Literature at the University of Pernambuco, but her heart always beat stronger for the visual arts. At the age of 19, she took the first formal steps in her artistic training, taking a stained glass art course.
LEARNING PROCESS
At the age of 25, a new move took her to Recife, where she got married and had two daughters. However, it was in 1994, the year she returned to Petrolina, that Elielce immersed herself in the world of arts once and for all.
She began painting and drawing with India inks, exploring the nuances of this technique and, in 2001, Elielce took a watercolor painting course at SESC/Petrolina. However, her thirst for improvement led her to seek more knowledge, and so she took an oil painting course with Professor Alberto Simões, also participating in group exhibitions that gave visibility to her paintings.
In 2008, life brought her back to Recife, where she still lives today. There she continued her learning journey, taking a drawing and painting course with Professor Joaz Silva, who helped refine her skills and expand her technical repertoire.
